All electric wind turbines no matter of what size constitute of some basic components- the rota (the part which rotates the wind), a speed control system, electric generator and a tower. The wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind to mechanical power, a generator then converts this mechanical power to electricity.

Wind energy is a source of renewable energy. It does not contaminate. It is inexhaustible and reduces the use of fossil fuels, which are the origin of greenhouse gasses that cause global warming.

Wind power is more expensive than power from old, established power plants, but is cost competitive with any new power plant.

Wind power is surely expensive but it can generate electricity for less than 5 cents per kilowatt-hour, a price that is competitive with new coal or gas fired power plants.
