There are several sources of energy, these are much more efficient than the fossil fuels and even cleaner than fossil fuels Wind power along with solar, thermal powers will never run dry. Wind power is a great source of energy. The word ‘wind power ‘or ‘wind energy ‘are used to describe the process by which wind is used to generate mechanical power or electricity.

The best way to collect wind energy is by using windmills or wind turbines. Modern day turbines fall into two basic categories - The horizontal axis turbine which are used in traditional turbines for pumping water; The vertical axis design. Modern wind technology takes advantages of advances in material, engineering, aerodynamics.

All electric wind turbines no matter of what size constitute of some basic components- the rota (the part which rotates the wind), a speed control system, electric generator and a tower. The wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind to mechanical power, a generator then converts this mechanical power to electricity.

Wind energy is a source of renewable energy. It does not contaminate. It is inexhaustible and reduces the use of fossil fuels, which are the origin of greenhouse gasses that cause global warming.

Wind power is more expensive than power from old, established power plants, but is cost competitive with any new power plant.

Wind energy is the most competitive source, today’s wind turbines can be less noisy than a car, fossil fuel plants are more dangerous for birds than turbines, wind energy will not damage the power grid. Wind power is surely expensive but it can generate electricity for less than 5 cents per kilowatt-hour, a price that is competitive with new coal or gas fired power plants.
